About Us

Family, Caring Atmosphere

We specialize in hands-on outpatient physical therapy services in the Sarasota Area.  Our expert clinicians are trained in John F. Barnes Myofascial Release and have helped many people achieve their physical goals when other traditional therapies have failed.  You are treated with the importance of being like a family member.  Our mission is to guide and help you along every step of the way between injury/dysfunction/pain and to allow you to return to the activities you enjoy.

How We Can Help You

Physical Therapists assess and diagnose limitations in musculoskeletal and nervous systems that affect ease of functional movements.  The goals are to get past just treating the symptoms of your pain and to get at what is the structural cause of your pain.  Gentle hands on therapy combined with targeted, well tolerated exercises will allow you to improve mobility, stability and strength.  This will you the ability to improve your current functional activity tolerance to the levels that you desire.

Services offered at Michael Via Therapy include (but not limited to):

  • Myofascial Release
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction (urinary or fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, urgency)
  • Back and neck issues (stenosis, herniated disc, facet pain, etc.)
  • Head to toe pain issues (bursitis, tendonitis, etc.)
  • Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain issues
  • Post surgical rehabilitation.
  • Sport specific wellness training

Our Care is the Difference

We spend quality, hands on, individualized time with all of our patients.   Our treatment selections are gentle rather than forceful but make dramatic changes in the structural causes of your pain.

Many clients we have previously worked with have commented how our treatment has exceeded all other physical therapy experiences received in the past.  We take pride in our ability to provide this increased value and quality in our care, and we always have your most optimal and desired outcomes in mind as we work together to improve your unique, important situations.

Our Services

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a gentle hands on technique that releases restriction in the body’s connective tissue. These restrictions may have been brought on by trauma, inflammation, and/or surgery. Many of these restrictions are not seen under traditional X-Ray or MRI imaging, adding to the stress and frustration of people that suffer from these issues.  Releasing these restrictions allows for easier movement and less pain by fixing the structural cause of the problem versus masking the symptoms that the restrictions cause.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

We describe our discreet, minimally internal Pelvic Floor Therapy program as a 3-part process:

Part one of the process is the training and conditioning of the pelvic floor (bowel/bladder) musculature.  Biofeedback (surface electrodes) and gentle exercises improve the quality of strength and mobility of the muscles to allow the sphincters function more optimally.

Part two is the releasing of constriction and pulls that affect pelvic floor muscle function.  Myofascial Release and gentle visceral mobilizations decrease pressure on the bowel/bladder system and reduce muscular pulls on the pelvic floor to improve function.

Bowel/ Bladder training habits are the final part of the equation to allow less stress on the pelvic floor to improve ease of control and function.

Physical Therapy exercise and training

We offer head to toe outpatient Physical Therapy services for pain, post surgical rehabilitation, and wellness stretching and exercise training.  Our clinicians have been trained in Titleist Performance Institute Level 2 Medical, Level 2 Fitness, and Level 2 Junior training.  We have also been trained in gentle Active Isolated Stretching techniques that complement the tissue release done by Myofascial release.  We also have pain relieving modalities such as:  cool laser therapy,  Dolphin MPS therapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation to help with ease of movement.
